Then, for some reason, it placed, even though I didn't try anything different with it. So I trashed it and grabbed another one with NEI, and that one wouldn't place at first either. I clicked on the spot quite a few times, and it wouldn't place. Now here's the next weird part: After I went through the steps above, I picked up my arcane empowerment table, and tried replacing it, and it wouldn't place back down.
That didn't work, and neither did closing minecraft completely, re-launching it and loading the world again. I also tried exiting and reloading the world. I tried closing the table and reopening it, but when I did, it started me over at level 0 again. The game didn't crash or anything, but it just wouldn't register that I was clicking on the level-up button.
Now here's the weird part: I cheated myself some experience, and started spending it on magic levels, but when I was about to get back to level 9, it just wouldn't let me go there. It had literally started me over for no reason. Tonight, I was playing, and I was up to Mage level 9, and then, I don't know what happened (I didn't die), but my mana bars disappeared, and when I went to my arcane empowerment table, and it said "Levels Required: 0". Earlier today, I had two portals fully charged with a light nexus, and when I started using them, the nexus wouldn't recharge the essence consumed in the process.
